A total of 72 poets from 10 BRICS countries gathered in Hangzhou City, capital of east China’s Zhejiang Province, to participate in a cultural event on Friday.
The event is the international version of the 39-year-old youth poetry festival held by the Chinese magazine Poetry Periodical.
“Countless young poets grew into masters through our event,” said Zhang Hongsen, vice president of China Writers Association. “Today’s gathering marks our event going international.”
Zhao Cheng, head of the Publicity Department at Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, said Zhejiang is home to many important poets through Chinese history and hoped the event could improve the friendship of the participating poets.
Poet representatives held a ceremony to appreciate the international friendship.
The event guests also watched stage performances of traditional Chinese art.
